I did check the AOP site and found just 3 listings in my area about 20 miles away. Is there any other way to know if a company does good installs?
I've checked a couple in my local area on BBB.

I will be talking to the company that proposed the Lennox 14ACX since it's represented on the quote as a SEER 16
but the Lennox web pages says no more than SEER 14.

Any suggestions on the least SEER rating I should consider?
A reasonable {Not short though} ROI might be to specify SEER 15 instead of SEER 13 in Houston TX.
10 year savings might be ~ $2,000

If any mechanical contractor can not EASILY provide theses specifics or quite similar,
they are not adequately schooled in Energy Savings versus SEER rating and Life Cycle Cost$.

If one tells you your savings will be 30% for SEER 15 versus 13,
they're "using Smoke & Mirrors."

Whether the energy savings are actually achieved depends on the contractors competence
on the initial installation
and whether you select an annual maintenance agreement.
Of course, the annual maintenance agreement will be about equal to the savings.
