I have one of those. It's quite the disaster right now since I've been feverishly testing some stuff, but it sure makes life a little easier when you can actually bench test stuff in a working environment before deploying it. I really hate to be the a$$ that says something works on paper, but not in the real world.

Home. Its what I would refer to as my cave. Reworked the whole room, was working on putting it back together over the holidays. Plenty of pissing around to do yet.

Heres a couple pictures of my office. Its a little messy id like to get everything networked at some point. And that 20 year old HP Laerjet still works like a charm.

I can't tell ya how many times I've had to connect and overide some setpoint in between the heat race and the main. I look forward to the day when all I need to carry is my iPhone.
    cheers,

    To heck with the phone...

How about a tropical island with a handful of frosty beverage.

now that's funny - don't care who you are!

Wish I could take a vacation. Never taken more than a long weekend in my 58 years. And even then had to put out some fires from the river campground over a 300baud acoustic mod.

I guess that's the price you pay for runnin your own show. No regrets though - i dig what i do and am paid well.

    the bottom line,
Real controls guys don't (can't) take vacations

With all the connectivity options available today, its hard not to be online with a project. My favorite is the using in-flight wifi. Not the fastest but something about working from 40,000 ft is really cool plus my phone is off. Long way from the 300 baud modem days! Since my company has projects going all over the country I tend to work in long weekend vacations, which from the looks of things I am not alone. My only real escape is riding my 450 KTM in the woods of VT with friends.

LOL I like your setup Orion242 but where in the world is your IQView. I mean come on, you gotta have some kind of fancy expensive outdated piece of equipment on there the customer should never use but tries to anyhow. LOL

i hear that. my escapes also involve a 450 KTM - but mine has no front brake and only turns left!

seems like there are a lot of ac mechs who ride the 2 wheeled off road death machines! might make an interesting thread?
