Water heater p-trap

I was at a vacant house up for sale working on an air handler. This thing was still in service and I saw a fresh home inspection sticker.

Great! Another wrong way to use flex connectors. Wish these flex connectors could disappear.

That's an efficiency upgrade!!!
Probably paid top dollar for it!
Shortly after I purchased my house the rental water tank leaked and I dident have the cash for a new one. The tank had been orphaned in the chimney by the previous owner, so I dropped a liner, and left the excess hanging out of the chimney for the rental guys. I came back that night to find an install similar to that one, dident cut any extra off the liner. It vented up, back down, then up again into the chimney. I cut the liner back and fixed it that night, than gave the guy a piece of my mind the next day

This is that stuff used on dryer vents. You can't see it well but there is a 4" metal coupling in the middle of it. Should have taken a picture of the rtv silicone used to make it adapt to the bvent stack
