Techs that work in the snow belt, how do you keep your boots clean?
I hate taking off my boots in customers houses. But I hate dragging nasty, salty snow onto their clean carpets even worse. I use paper/fiber boot covers that work ok, not great. Does anyone have a better solution?

they do make plastic water proof shoe covers that do a good job, they are very loud and annoying though i must say but they get the job done

I have 2 pairs of slip on work boots. One pair used for outside work that I leave just inside their front door and one pair that I put on as I take the other pair off. The clean inside pair only get used inside the building and have never seen dirt. I keep them in a zippered bag to carry into the building with me.
The customers appreciate this and often comment about it. They have told me that if I care that much about their carpets I must really care about their furnace.
Win.

I thought about 2 sets of shoes. I figured the laces would slow me down running in and out. Slip ons might be ok. I'll investigate that further.

Youley's Boot covers.
My boss just bought them for all the res. guys. We're not allowed to take our boots off cuz a plumber caught a T&P with his shirt and got 3rd degree burns on his foot.

The majority of the homes I go into there is no chance I am taking my boots off, some I wont even take my gloves off to touch anything, if its a nice house with white carpet I take off my boots other wise I have some disposable boot covers but they dont do so well with a lot of snow.
