I have a family friend who lives northwest of Atlanta. they have a 12 year old lennox unit and have had some problems with it. they are being told it needs replaced and im advising them to just fix it.

What did they say was the problem? It depends on what it needs, but normally it should be something easy to fix on a 12 year old system. They should get a second opinion.

Did they look on the Lennox website? Lennox does a pretty good job of collecting feedback from their customers on all of their dealers. It'll tell you if they are a premier dealer, etc.

im not sure who theyre using. they just called yesterday and said it wasn't cooling again. they came out and said it lost 3lbs in less than a month, and its not worth fixing. but have no clue where the leak is, in my eyes you cant recommend replacement unless you know the repair cost.
im about to drive down and fix it myself for what they want to replace whats there.
