I installed a universal ignitor and was back a week later to replace it. Didn't notice the first time but the distance from the burner was just a little more because of ignitor shape causing slightly delayed ignition. The amount of gas build up wasn't very noticeable but must have been enough to shock the ignitor and take it out.
So could the bracket be bent away from the burners?
