Everyone I know is laying the blame on the GOP. Whats wrong with those guys. Taking a vacation when work needs to be done. That would not fly with any of the Small Business I worked for. You'd be fired

Ya know... when folks are put in a situation of 'Work to eat... or starve'... they get motivated.
Sometimes they are motivated to wards crime... which will end quickly if punishment is swift and thorough.
We have neither of these in the USA... is it any wonder we have lots of deadbeats?
GA is in favor of letting the country fall off the cliff. There is an across the board spending cut at the bottom of the cliff... something NO polecat would approve publicly... yet what we really need (spending cuts).
So this may be a back-door to what we really need.
The idiots can go back and play tax cut politics afterwards... and have you ever seen a polecat who does not play tax politics with his/her "favourites"...
The spending cuts are what we need.GA-HVAC-Tech

It always kills me when a government entity talks about cutting spending they always talk about cutting out the program that is most liked or used. Yet if they would look at it they could cut 10% from all programs and make the agencies live within that budget. There is enough waste 10% should not be a problem at all.

Yeah... now I remember.
Was thinking of Heinlein... could not place the names of the races.
What is interesting is the way this was portrayed in one of the movie versions:
The Eloi were really a peaceful and beautiful race... while the Morlocks were ugly and mean.
Yet the Eloi allowed it to go on...
Reminds me of some of the original (first gen) Star Trek episodes.GA-HVAC-Tech

Not referring to you "dealing with it". If one CHOOSES to be a beggar then deal with scraps or nothing at all. I know what time period he was referring to. The good ol' days when the poor and downtrodden were just that. Everyone else was resourceful. People figured things out. Resourcefulness takes hard work. Hard work reaps rewards. If working hard is "no so good" then I'm not getting the point. If being poor reaps rewards then why work hard?

Thoroughly agree!
Charity needs to be at the local level... and NOT associated with politics. It is amazing how the local missions (religious based or not); tend to get folks motivated to do something... whereas a govt check seems guaranteed to de-motivate. Anyone have an explanation for that...
