    If you could criminally go after people that knew that ex-con had guns and did not alert authorities, the NRA and ACLU would defend their innocence.

    I am not sure of the legal specifics, but I think knowingly letting the guy have a gun is in fact illegal, since he was a felon. I don't know if there is a 'duty to report' law, but I doubt it. Maybe someone else can tell us?
