    i hope these pictures download and appear.



    customer got worried when the exhaust outside was turning a brown colr as well as the 2 inch elbow .

    Im glad you showed this. I had someone call me one night for a service call and he said his pipe was brown or black and it smelled funny. I didnt know what it was at the time and didnt take the call becasue we only service our own products after hours so another company got it but Im glad to know thats what it is. Thanks, dan

    Carrier has a trade-in allowance on these furnaces JUST for this reason. Seems the early 90's models are worse than the Mid-Late 80's IMO. Not too difficult to check on a PM.

    OK so I see the picture... and I've seen cracked heat exchangers.... that is what Im looking at right? an 8 panel exchanger? is that corosion or cocaine or what? its hard to tell from the pic but it is eaten thru, right . Thanks for indulging my stupidity , never seen one caked up like that.

    some one shrink the pic so its easier for him to see!!! he's not used to super sized pics you dont have to squint to see!!!

    i believe its a secondary heat exchanger in a 90%er!!!

    Yes, Secondary HE. ANYTIME I get a PM or have a "No Heat" on this baby I check 'em. 90% are bad. What you see is corrosion, and often rusted thru. Besides CO, can trip the Air Pressure switch. We have (had) a lot of these SX Models in our area.
