    Hey Rooter guys

What would be the best solution to use to maintain keeping roots out of the drain? Copper sulfate or something else? Rodded out the 4" cast pipe in June. Got a crapload (pun intended) of roots out. It's blocking up again. This is at our summer home and not sure if the lack of using the plumbing has anything to do with it or the unusually dry summer combined with sandy dirt. It's clogged up again. As far as I know, it's 4" cast until it meets with pvc the city installed maybe 10 years ago.
    Thanks

    Use copper sulfate
Used to be k19 root killer

IMMEDIATELY after using the root cutting blades.

    Works best when freshly cut

    Then use it routinely

What also works good after cutting or jetting is a professional product called Rootx.

Its a foam product which means it gets the root ends at the top of the pipe too. The guys at the Ridgid plumbing forum swear by it.

Did they run the camera down the sewer to make sure they got all the roots?

I rented a rodder at home depot and did it myself. Ran it thru 3 or 4 times until it came back empty and then flushed it out with a hose

Thanks for the link but it looks like I can't purchase it. Looks like they market it as a yearly maintenance thru rooter companies

Get rid of all vegetation within a half mile radius.

    Hope this helps.
The picture in my avatar is of the Houston Ship Channel and was taken from my backyard. I like to sit outside and slap mosquitos while watching countless supertankers, barges and cargo ships of every shape and size carry all sorts of deadly toxins to and fro. It's really beautiful at times.....just don't eat the three eyed fish....

Working on it. I've been slowly cutting down the tree that I believe is the culprit. It will be gone in the spring.

A PVC soil line never has internal root problems.
