You people keep coming off like guns have some sort of consciesness. Like guns are going to commit criminal acts all by themselves. As has been repeated over and over again, it is not the gun, but whose hand the gun is attached to that determines if a gun is an instrument of criminal activity or a tool to prevent criminal activity. Statistically, by a very large margin, guns are used much more to prevent criminal acts than they are to kill people.

The bad guys are not going to pay any attention to laws. By restricting the possesion of firearms for responsible citizens, we just give the bad guys more reason to use guns against us.

You make their job easier to convince others that your side is never going to compromise so a ban is the only way to fix the gun problem

Only a fool can't see that.

You all are going to get the ban you deserve because of your unwillingness to compromise.

As I have said before: Go ahead bite off your noses to spite your face

It will either be tougher gun purchasing and ammo regulations or a ban.

At this point it doesn't matter either way to me.
Why should any American feel a need to comprimise our freedoms and rights?

You say we won't give an inch? We aren't stupid. We know that translates to the same as your saying; "We'll only stick it in a little bit."

Yeah this guy should have been able "because it was his right" to purchase a 9mm semi automatic from a local gun store here in town without any certification or instruction from a trained expert who would have never let this guy have an approval to purchase it.

Again I ask Why since none of you have answered the question directly you think some type of certification prior to purchasing a semi automatic is a BAD idea other then it may be a little inconvienient for you.

Oh and I'll make sure I "Thank You" the next time 20 innocent children are gunned down again and their parents have to live with such unending agony.
You want gun certification? Fine. Make it a required course to graduate high school and I will agree with you in a generous compromise.

    Are you Okay with that?

What is your solution for Loughner not being able to purchase the gun he used to do it with?

And don't give me we should have had a mental evaluation prior because that is not a justifiable answer because it would never have happened.

Having some sort of certification process is the best and most reasonable way to prevent sales of firearms to wackos.

And anyone who wants to argue this point is simply making themselves look silly with such a position on this issue.

I thought you were one of the ones that were smart enough to get it.

    Guess not.
Look, mcjo, you're going to have to stop being sandpaper TP.

I DO 'get' your point, but there are problems with it.

You will never prevent all of these shootings.

    Period.

There is no perfect solution. No "magic bullet" so to speak.

Read this again, only this time, think about it.

A LAW ABIDING citizen shot 19 people?

What kind of laws do you have down there?

In general I am ok with it but it should not be required.

An option for those who want to get a certification to purchase a gun when of age I would agree to.
