With abortion, the big issue is when does life begin? Some argue right at conception, some argue not until the baby physically leaves the mothers body. This is not even close to a gun debate IMO. But you can certainly feel free to start a parallel infinite abortion thread.

this is quote from a guy in Brazil:
Carlitos maldonado 1 day ago
Here in Brazil good citizens are not alowed to buy, own or carry guns... the damn socialist/comunist government of FHC and Lula da Silva took away our civil rights, but the crime and the murders with firearms increased in 170%. You americans have hundred million people more then us in Brazil, and 12 thousand murders... we have 50 thousand murders/year.... Don't let those mother f***** burocrats took away your rights... Sorry for my poor english
after I copy&pasted that, I though: I sure someone will think I made that up. Well I really don't care. The anti-gun people are some of THE most illogical people around and you really can not have a conversation with one because they don't have any actual answers to crime other than "take the guns away".
Which of course won't solve anythingGOVERNMENT

U tube comments are not documentable facts.
And you are not a liar JMac...... you are just very gullible...
Want to buy some swampland or my free energy machine plans......
You also shouldnt try and compare somewhere like Brazil to the USA. In Brazil you have the drug gangs running amok.... you have cities built out of cardboard and paper.....a corrupt government with police rounding up homeless kids on the street and killing them. Poverty like you wouldnt believe....
Id say poverty and the drugs...and the corrupt nature of the government have more to do with the deaths in Brazil than a firearms ban.
I wonder if someone was to take a list of nations ranked by their poverty rates and a list of their murder and crime rate and compare them side by side..... what it would look like.
Comparing anything of Brazils to the USAs is like comparing apples to titanium eyeglass frames.....Let go of my cracker jacks, If you dont Im going to have to beat you....... now then hand my captain crunch back over to me this instant.....or else !!!

yet, everyone on the planet compares themselves to America. We compare ourselves to Briton and Australia. The comparisons are everywhere. These comparisons should be a wake-up call to America. If "We the People" don't stand up and stop this ludicrous laws we are doomed to be Briton, Australia or Brazil

We have a lot more in common with britain and stralia than we do with Brazil....where poverty is rife... shanty towns are larger than many western towns..... drug cartels have as much power as the government... Just no comparision..
But we are headed that way as poverty increases in america so will crime and drug use and as they increase so will the power weilded by the drug king pins and the criminals.
Jmac... when the day comes that a working man has to carry a gun to defend himself just trying to go about his everyday buiness....the battle will already be lost.
Just think if americans were willing to put as much effort behind getting tougher on crime and criminals as they were their right to own a gun..... maybe if enough people got together and demanded some changes....we might see something happen..
But it wont.... unless you have been the victim of a violent crime...or your kid has been kidnapped tortured raped and murdered..... the average american couldnt care less..... Long as it aint happening in my back yard is americas credo.
I doubt that there are very few people in this country that actually feel for those newtown kids....very few people who really give a damn about school safety...... those kids are only a tool....a tool for a bunch of selfish ignorant and gullible people who are so afraid they are going to lose their guns that they have to feign concern for the kids.....
My god.... the amount of kids that are beaten or sexually abused and killed in this country each week.... maybe if the people cared enough for them like they do for their gun collections they could send a message to law enforcement and their politicians that they demand measures be taken to protect those kids.......at any cost...
But americans wont.....and its because A. They dont care about someone elses kids.....and B. It would cost money and increase taxes....Let go of my cracker jacks, If you dont Im going to have to beat you....... now then hand my captain crunch back over to me this instant.....or else !!!

If it is legal in CA then why cant 99.9% of the people carry?
Love the way you skew terms to mislead people. But you are not here to be factual. You are here to win a debate at any cost.
If you do not know what lowered CAs crime rate in the recent past you cannot say CCW lowered crime in other states. You don't know what you're talking about as far as the law goes, Brian. I've pointed that out to you on more than one occasion.

Japan and Singapore have some fairly restrictive gun laws and they have tiny murder rates.... maybe we should look to them for guidance in coming up with some sort of compromise gun law. Both dont do much to hinder genuine shooting sports and hunting.... registration.... some carrying laws... and it seems their methods have done a pretty good job of taking guns away from criminals...while at the same time reducing crime.

Thanx for making the point of gun ownership
Jmac... when the day comes that a working man has to carry a gun to defend himself just trying to go about his everyday buiness....the battle will already be lost.
That day has been here for quite some time and it not lost or over. Everyday I (we) go about our daily lives KNOWING something bad could happen, Thats why I have a fire extinguisher in my kitchen, that why I ware a helmet when on a motorcycle and why we ware seatbelts and why I carry a gun.
this is exactly what the NRA, GOA and SAF have been demanding for years, ENFORCE THE LAWS ON THE BOOKS. it's as simple as that.Just think if americans were willing to put as much effort behind getting tougher on crime and criminals as they were their right to own a gun..... maybe if enough people got together and demanded some changes....we might see something happen..
It won't because of misguided politicians. If you ask most people, they WANT THE LAWS ENFORCED. We all know of someone that has been the victim of crime. Whether is was a violent crime or white collar or a simple theft. But it wont.... unless you have been the victim of a violent crime...or your kid has been kidnapped tortured raped and murdered..... the average american couldnt care less..... Long as it aint happening in my back yard is americas credo.
this is were me and you are going to have a serious disagreement. Everyone I know of, gun owners and non-gun owners alike are deeply sadden by the shooting in Connecticut and Colorado and all the other mass shootings. We also realize these are the act by a truly disturbed individuals. I think YOU'RE the callus, uncaring person that couldn't careless about these kids. You're the one watching to much TV and the media has you under there thumb.I doubt that there are very few people in this country that actually feel for those newtown kids....very few people who really give a damn about school safety...... those kids are only a tool....a tool for a bunch of selfish ignorant and gullible people who are so afraid they are going to lose their guns that they have to feign concern for the kids.....

I think you are morally bankrupt individual. I think the people of this country are the most caring and generous people on earth.
You? Im not so sure about. I get the feeling your waiting for the mother ship to come and take you homeGOVERNMENT

you are are truly a disturbed individual. Singapore has so many restrictive laws it isn't funny. ie: Bubble gun is not allowed in Singapore. It is also very much like Hong Kong, 20 million people in a 20 square mile area.
Japan has almost no gun related crime. They do have MANY "edged weapons" crime.
also they have completely different cultures. People in those countries grew up, basically as Serfs in a Draconian Society. these are actually worse comparisons than the US and BrazilGOVERNMENT

First of all...guns are not going to prevent us from turning into another Brazil.... its going to happen some day.... unless we become a police state like China... as populations increase....and poverty increases......which both are in the USA and there is absolutely nothing that can be done about it.... then crime and drug use will increase also.... Criminal with a gun who is desperate for cash sure isnt going to be detered by some city slicker yuppie with a handgun he has shot maybe 20 times....
Yep...its gonna get bad.... and you selfish individuals who care about your guns more than you do your fellow man are going to be the cause of it.....
thank you....lol
Hopefully our government can come to some sort of compromise so that guys like you are not out there on the streets with your buck fever wasting innocent people while you are living out some sort of cop fantasy.
As for morally bankrupt..... Im not the selfish individual who cares more about my gun collection than the safety and well being of my fellow man.
Dont want to have to defend yourself..... quit trolling the hood for ****. And put the same amount of effort into getting your congressman to do something about crime as you are putting into saving your 30 round mags... ( probably got to have that 30 to get one on target....lol)
We know you yankees cant hit the broad side of a barn..... Dang trained cops hit 9 civilians firing at one criminal..... Is there something in the water up there that clouds your vision ??? Or is buck fever a generic defect in the northeast ???Let go of my cracker jacks, If you dont Im going to have to beat you....... now then hand my captain crunch back over to me this instant.....or else !!!
