What does LTCO and BP mean?

    Hi,

I know that LTCO is Low Temperature Cut Off and BP is Balance Point. But what excatly are they and what do they do with regards to a heat pump.

The aux heat on my set up is controlled by the heat pump and not my thermostats. I have the LTCO as low as I can put it but the Aux heat is still coming on at about 1 deg C.

Here's a pic I took of my heat pump control board. Can someone tell me if this is correct?
