Named "The story of little black Sambo". Written by Helen Bannerman. I wonder if is worth any money. It's probabaly worth more to my childern, since that was once was one of their story books.

Depends on year printed and condition. It was in print in 1979. May still be. Some are worth little more than they cost new.

The original version of the book has nothing to do with his tribe. The book is set in India.

    The book

It was a gift to someone in 1974. Little Black Sambo was from India, right?

    Smile bigbird

The story goes, Once apon a time there was a little black boy, and his name was Little Black Sambo. And his Mother was called Black Mumbo. And his father was called Black Mumbo. Cool story for a little kid. Then the tigers got involved. A happy ending with the family eating pancakes.
