Diversitech Condensate Pump Issues
Has anyone else been having issues with diversitech's CP-22 condensate pump floats? Most of the CP-22 yellow Styrofoam floats have been shriveling/shrinking causing the float switch not to engage resulting flooding. It also prevents the saftey overflow relay from opening shutting the system down.
Diversitech's ClearVue pump can not be used on condensing furnaces ,or humidifers that use hot water, because steam (condensate) in the pump reservoir cause the floatless sensor technology to malfunction. The pump will continuiously turn on and off....

I haven't had any of these issues yet...but I will be on the look out for the float issues. I used to use Little Giant pumps but I have replaced them all with Diversitech because of mirco switch problems w/ L.G.

I have had to replace many of these pumps for the same reason and results you have experienced. Most under a year old. Replaced with a different brand.

Ive been doing the exact opposite. i've been replacing all the diversitech because almost all of the one i've installed have failed in the past 2 years. I origionally replaced the L.G with diversitech..i was better off withthe L.G. I'm gonna bit the bullet and install only the heavy duty hartell pumps. I'll probably give the customer the option and let them know of the issues of the less expensive models.

we also have had many 'diversitech' failures in the past year,
we are proactivly replacing to little giant during our annual tune-ups ( if the client has a 10 year warranty ).
we did look at the hartell pumps, but could not figure out how to take apart to clean, except for the empeller cover.
is there a different model ?
luck dan

All we use are little giant pumps. They're little "tanks".
I can honestly say I replace less than one a year, and furnaces up here make gallons of condensate over night when it's cold.

I have the diversitech cp -22 and have been experiencing problems with it. I took it apart cleaned everything. I filled the reservoir with water and it would not pump. So I took the cover off and raised the float manually and it pumps. Put the cover back on and filled it with water and nothing again. It will run and pump when I either manually raise the floaty or shake the pump a bit. I've read about the problems people have been having with these floatys. Does this sound like I need a new pump or new floaty? I just wanted to make sure before I go out and buy one because the fact that the pump runs when I shake it a bit threw me off...

I don't think you can get repair parts for those pumps.

Check to see if your yellow float had shriveled up and isn't large. It's probably the float. I have a box of replacements for this exact problem.

Btw, I've found large wine corks fit where the float resides!
