AuCS cleaning system

Anyone have experience with the Manitowac AuCS auto cleaning system?

Have a college where I'm bidding a new ice machine. In this particular building, they only treat the hot water, and the water is heavy in calcium. Just wondering if the system works well in this application. No other minerals, just heavy calcium.

For some reason they are not interested in water treatment.

It would do more for an I series than any other IMO. On a older unit it wouldn't do much for cleaning the sensors. Since the redesign it would do more for you as far as keeping the important parts clean and working. Anywhere there is splashing or not in the water pump flow will not be cleaned by an AuCS.

Exactly my thought. Sadly though the only I series I've seen was at a United branch or the seminar. I've maintained plenty in the past with AUCS, filling them periodically at which point the ice thickness probe would be removed and cleaned. Slime is a whole different beast which will plague a machine regardless.

From what I have seen since we took on restaraunt work, the aucs units have not worked in some time, and the chain is not interested in any maintnance, only failure mode service calls.

I hear you- yesterday I went to a ski center to get the ice machines going. All Mani's with the Everpure systems bypassed. 3 out of 4 machines down due to scale. Go figure.

But back to my original question, if the aucs system is maintained, does it handle scale on the I series?

Bet it would. The water probe seems to attract scale right at the tips like a magnet with the new electronics and the ITP could probably have anything hanging off of it and still work.

Isn't the I pretty much an S aside from the ITP technology and the digital panel/interface?

Water level is all new too! Had the least problems with scale/slime shutting down Q series!

They do well on most of the water side. They will keep scale off of evap and distribution system. They will not clean thickness probes. Keep them full and clean your probe regularly and they are a good thing IMO. For scale that is. At a subway or pizza shop they are useless. PS seperate your drain lines.
