Basically I clean / chase threads and apply Loctite 554, sparingly. You will need 2 wrenches to remove the fitting. -GEO
Once in a while everything falls into place and I am able to move forward, most of the time it just falls all over the place and I can't go anywhere-GEO

    According to who ?
Why would Trane supply a teflon ribbon to be used in conjunction with the suction elbow O ring if Teflon was not compatible with
    R123 ?

On low pressure I like, as mentioned by other, the loctite 567. I prefer the 544 on higher pressure machines.
