Trane Varitrac III CCP

Got called to a site today to look at a trane CCP. Not that familure with them but this doesn't look to promising. the display had under the diagnostics. 1. CCP Eprom write fail

Does this mean it has to be replaced or can this be fixed on site.

eprom chips only have so many writes that are available. I believe it will require a new board.

If you can see the home screen, push the advance button and select a reboot of the CCP - similar to cycling power to the panel. When the panel boots the memory EEPROM read/write function is very specific. If it reads or writes out of sequence - like in a "brown-out" state (insufficient power or operation outside of its intended environment) then an error will occur. If you still get the write fail error, then I believe you will be replacing the panel.

Thanks guys. I will see if the reboot will help the ccp. If not I guess I will have to replace it.

Power off /on controller. Check software image. If it is between 4.200.341 and 4.20.343 upgrade to latest image (4.200.344).
