My Evolution system is reporting a "range error" under the service menu - my HVAC guy is researching it. Anyone know what this is? Thanks.

outdoor air and outdoor coil temps are too far apart.

is the outdoor unit a new model or last year's model?
Perhaps you should have read the instructions before calling.

The outdoor unit is the older 2-speed Bristol TS compressor based system. The outdoor air temperature sensor does tend to read high. Is this something to be concerned about? Thanks so much.

Can you see the OAT sensor when looking at the unit?

Yes, it is hanging outside the unit - sort of pushed through a hole.

I'm presuming that you have a heat pump. When the heat pump is approaching a defrost cycle, this will occur. It's a non-issue. If a thermistor actually fails, you will get a different error. I get range errors, too. They only occur when the coil is getting frosty.
