    Looking for a better thermostat

    Hi All,

Newbie to this forum and a big thanks to the owners of the forum for making such information available.

I have a house built in 1976 and it is all electrical with baseboard heaters and these Dayton thermostats in every room. The heaters are 240v and I am very comfortably working with voltages and DIY repairs and mods.

Is there a more efficient thermostat available to replace these? I get the impression that these are regulating the Amps to the heater rather than switching on and off to regulate the heat as the meter spins like a demon whether they are full on or set below the ambient temperature.

Once the knob is beyond the "Off" position the meter spins frantically.

Looks like a standard line voltage thermostat, they are simple on/off switches based on temperature. There are line voltage digital thermostats that you can get that will vary the amount of output based on temperature.
