    Yeah I know. Neither the right or left actually stands up for the freedom that the constitution represents. They all want to limit how you live based on what they think is "right".

    Elf, I am not going after you... however:

    Would you choose the Constitution, or the ACLU?

    My point is: Citizens need to be involved and push for what they believe in.

    After running a household, this, that, and the other, we need to find time and get involved. Your right.

    Is anyone really surprised at this sort of abuse from government? The more power we keep giving to government, the worse this sort of thing is going to continue.

    I said I would not condemn, not that I support them. I love what the constitution stands for. Tis a shame that their is not a single organization that truly backs what it stands for. When you get down to the nitty grity they all have limitations and restrictions they want to place on peoples freedoms solely because they are protecting their believes.

    Personally... most organizations like the ACLU are more about their agenda than freedom. If they were true freedom fighters... they would be defending the Constitution... rather than specific causes.

    Most people have no clue about the history of ACLU;
    Roger Baldwin and Crystal Eastman founded the ACLU in 1920 along with three other organizations dedicated to the most leftist of causes. The histories of these two individuals belie their claims of patriotism and respect for the Constitution.

    Baldwin openly sought the utter destruction of American society. Fifteen years after the founding of the ACLU, Baldwin wrote:

    I am for Socialism, disarmament and ultimately, for the abolishing of the State itself … I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class and sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal.

    So much for the idea the ACLU is worth the hot air it takes to speak the name.

    Folks, we need to think beyond what is easy to see... or we will end up with less than we want or even had.

    The ACLU's cause is civil rights, i.e. constitutional rights.

    What the article conveniently failed to mention is that Baldwin was never a member of the Communist Party and in fact disavowed communism in the thirties.

    That the article failed to mention these salient points is not surprising in that the article was written by a right wing lawyer who fronts an organization dedicated to restricting civil rights and appears on a right wing extremist website of dubious credibility.

    Continuing in the gahvactech tradition of basing opinions on worn out, inaccurate and ideologically saturated information.
