    I thought capacitors held more of a liquid? That looks like candle wax to me.

    I have seen an oily residue in the electrical compartment, but never a wax like that.

    I have been around when a cap blew up like the last pic. YIKES!

    I found a blown cap on a unit last year, it looked similar to pic 3. It spewed this very sticky, clear, thick gelatinous like substance everywhere. Soap and water wouldn't touch it, I had to use WD-40 to get it off my hands
    The picture in my avatar is of the Houston Ship Channel and was taken from my backyard. I like to sit outside and slap mosquitos while watching countless supertankers, barges and cargo ships of every shape and size carry all sorts of deadly toxins to and fro. It's really beautiful at times.....just don't eat the three eyed fish....
