This and this alone is what "union leadership" fear the most. Trumka,King and the NEA/MEA.
Proposition 2 was an attempt to make a Constitutional amendment for collective bargaining. It went down in flames as being too radical.
Even 33% of union members voted no on 2.

Given the choice and freedom to join or not to join goes back to the individual union member. Its a freedom to choose.
