so i was at the supply house today and watched a guy pull in with a **** box truck. picked up a Rudd 2ton 13s unit and and a walk in cooling unit. think nothing of it and go on with my day. so i go to subway Naples fl for lunch today and i see this guy next door and a little pizza place putting 422-d in the rudd unit help my thinking because idk?

Capacity losses make it a poor choice for R-22 replacement.

Ok i get this thread walkin evap unit with the rudd unit as the condensing unit . Thats so far out there i could not connect the dots .

I've heard of it being done and I suppose that, given proper sizing considerations and environmental considerations (HVAC equipment like that typically don't have low ambient controls that refrigeration equipment needs) it can be made to work.

I've never SEEN it and I think that I'd condemn it on the spot if I did.

Much smarter to install the correct equipment for the tech AND the customer.

Far easier than you think.

Defrost could be accomplished with an add-on pressure control or an add on timer.

I predict no less than 2 trips a year to "fix" it. Customer probably wanted the cheapest job possible and that's what they got!
