Old Dunham-Bush nomenclature
Got an old D-B unit with a junk TX. Anyone know how to read the nomenclature? What's the tonnage? I'm tempted to say 1600 btu on the condensing unit? Never seen a model number with an ampersand in it.
Condensing unit: AR-16H&C
Evap. unit: C145
None of our dealers can tell me anything about D-B.

surely its a decent sized unit, go with the compressor capacity at evap temp to size your valve. probably 1.25 to 1.5 ton

For a short time in the 1960's they did make some 1/4 and 1/3 hp hermetic condensing units with Kelvinator or Tecumseh compressors, but I have no info left for those.
