    Trane XV20 or XL18I ??

I considering two 3 ton units for my Maryland house. I've read that the XV20 variable speed technology would deliver more cost savings over the XL18I. Does anyone have any opinions on these two?

    Thanks

If installed correctly there would be a small difference.

The key is correctly or it could cost you more to operate and maintain.

    Thanks for your reply.

What's the most common installation error with this system?

Lack of knowledge and experience with inverter technology. It is an awesome product and Trane released it back in 1999 and has recently reintroduced it.
As a new installation with designed duct work and load calculation correctly performed it can not be beat.
As a retrofit to an existing system that has installation issues to begin with it will become an expensive RD project at your exspence.
