    Confused REFLOK help

Thank you for taking a look at my thread. When we built our new office building (we are a large mechanical contractor in the Midwest) in 2011 we decided to install aluminum tube and REFLOK fittings, long story short the Reflok bomb is starting to go off and we are getting leaks. We have started to run copper next to the existing aluminum with the plan toto switch the system over somewhere in early 2018. I come here to see if any of you know of anywhere to source replacement 1 3/8" couplers as we have a few leaking at this point. There is talk that Reflok is or has reopened for business but if so they are zero help, as is any distributor listed on their website. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Very sorry to hear this. Guessing Daikin isn't any help either, even though they endorsed the product. One of the many problems with aluminum piping is that you can't reliably repair or braze it. Good luck

Thank you for your input. Mechanical Resource Group out of Nashville TN has all the Reflok fittings one would need.

Interesting. So I guess that means you are letting that aluminum tubing ride for now then - only repairing where needed? Curious to hear how it continues to hold up (or not).

    Tufflok

Not a lawyer so these are not technical terms - Reflok changed hands a few times and is winding down its affairs. A new company came in and acquired their intellectual property and patents and is now supplying fittings. They re-engineered the old reflok fittings for tighter tolerances and added lots of quality control steps. Setting things right basically.

Tufflok is the new company (new owners and new management team) and all of their fittings/adapters/tools are 100% compatible with Reflok material.

Tufflok is sticking to copper to copper connections and will only warranty jobs between copper, however their fittings are still combatible with aluminum but no warranty will follow that installation.

They have also added an installation step where the connector must be wrapped with silicone tape or else the warranty is void. Tufflok is tightening up the game and doing it right.

So splicing connectors into the aluminum is a viable solution until a long term plan can be made.
