Midwest is by far the very best brand of snips your money can buy.
I used wiss when I was young and loved them, but I simply had not found Midwest yet.
Trust me and many others here, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY, BUY MIDWEST.
I have wiss and like them, the boss has milwaukee, I tried them and they cut through anything.
I am an apprentice and I do appreciate advice.

Currently in service but did install (new/retro) for about six years. I have always used Midwest and I got about a year out of a pair. After switching to straights/90*s and adjusting, I would never go back to anything else. I have a pair of right and left that are about 3 years old used every now and again.
Home Depot used to carry the brand but dropped them. Normal price was about $14 for a pair and they went down to $6 on closeout. I bought 4 lefts and 3 rights, everything they had left on the rack.
Ive been using malco for the past 7yrs and I've never had a problem with them, recently I purchased the Swiss offset snips to try something different and I regret buying them they went dull after cutting out the opening on the furnace for the filter rack so I purchased the Milwaukee snips and they cut like a hot knife thru butter
cant let any one use your snips, have drawer full of bulldogs ,duckbills, andys, left and rights straits /offsets some over 20 years old still like new right tool /right task and nooobody gets to borrow them . lol i collect sheet metal tools have some crazy stuff ,look dont touch I like them all
A good tinknocker can use any brand. My personal preference is Midwest. I do commercial sheetmetal an use them everyday and if your getting much more than a year your not trying hard enough
Cordless 4.5inch angle grinder. best sheet metal cutting tool i got. blows though the side of those furnaces like paper. with practice this will leave a great edge.
Like has been said midwest is way better than wiss. I kept going thru wiss's until I found midwest haven't had to buy a new pair for years. I've had really good luck with my wiss shears though. Probably had those 4 years still cut great.

are those the type of mid west you guys use? i think its the only brand I have not tried yet.tried klenks, willwaukee, stanleys and a couple others,i still go back to the wiss snips.they are a perfect design but the quality is real ****ey.
Those are it. I just saw the 3 pair set at sears on sale for like $35
and they work well for notching drive cleats?
Yes they work fine for that. I love the cutting edge on Midwest but the way I hold them the tit on the grips rubs a blister on my finger if I don't wear gloves. Some tool rep from lowes gave me a bunch of tools when I fixed his ac last year and included was a set of their new and improved wiss snips. They are red/black, green/black, and yellow/black colored. The grips are much more comfortable and the cutting edge is fine so far. They have the sort of serrated type edge rather than the smooth edge of the Midwest. I just grab whichever is closest, I've got 10 different pairs of various types and brands in my sheet metal bag.
have not seen the new wiss snips yet,i blow through 3-5 pairs a year doing piece work.will try a set of the Midwest reds though.
He was a Home Depot rep not lowes and they are these snips. I like them.

I got a home depot wiss and like them they standing up to what I need them for in the field
The newest Midwest aviation snips have new improved grips and are available in different hardness
The major issues I have with snips is... The pivot pin gets loose and the work twists between the shear blades.
Tighten the pivot... and the shears do not retract properly.
Have the manufactures fixed this yet...
