Minimum space requierement of indoor coil over furnace.

Hi I'm a second year apprentice who works primarilly on comercial rooftops and industrial chillers. I've recently started taking on some residential calls on the side and am curiouse on certain do and donts. I have a customer who wants to add a plenum heater to his existing heat pump/ oil furnace setup.
Thing is i am limitted for space. I have 9'' from the exit of the furnace to the bottom of the coil and only 1'' fron the top of the coil to elbow of the supply trunk.
My question is if i drop the coil right to the exit of the furnace and try to fit my plenum heater on top of the coil will there be any danger in possibly damaging the coils plastic drain base? The plenum heater i was thinking of instaling was Thermolec.

You will melt the drain pan.

I would put the strip heater above the coil.

Hope you have plenty of insurance! Lots of liability out there.

Oil needs 2 in above at least. Gas or hp the coil needs 1 in. The case coil usually ralised pan 1in inside case. Uncased coil i make a pan inside plenum with 1in bends. Oil is higher.some of the goodman pans melted with 2in gas or oil.

Why the need for additional heat? The oil furnace doesn't keep up?

Thx for the the replies. I have insurance but am still not one who likes to botch a job. Pushed him to swap for a bigger SEER and electric furnace. Existing heat pump is dated and electric heat is cheaper here in canada. if done right
