It was cool for awhile. He moved out of his parents home in the second half of his Senior year and then stopped going to school, so he didn't graduate with his class. I took him in in June to get his HS diploma through the local Adult High School program in my county. He followed my "rules" until he graduated on July 19th. Things went downhill from there when he wanted to be treated as an adult without any of the usual adult responsibilities, i.e., getting a job, going to college, paying rent, finding productive ways to occupy his "free" time (i.e., something other than Facebook, Skype, Instagram or video games), getting up out of bed before noon, etc., etc. I sent him home on August 25th to let his parents deal with him.

This is live amp data from the compressor. There are 3 levels of amp draw as the system responds to increased %RH. Many times the unit shuts down on the 3^F overcool limit before the home hits the desired <50%RH setting.

C GS??? Huh?? This data may mean something to an "engineer", but it's way over my head and I don't see how it affects my situation.
Sorry TB... I may be dumb, but at least I'm comfortable!

Not to worry, comfortable is most important. Means Carrier Green Speed.
Relax, enjoy.
Regards TB
Bear Rules: Keep our home <50% RH summer, controls mites/mold and very comfortable.
Provide 60-100 cfm of fresh air when occupied to purge indoor pollutants and keep window dry during cold weather. T-stat setup/setback +8 hrs. saves energy
Use +Merv 10 air filter. -Don't forget the "Golden Rule"

Glad to heat you're happy with your system choice. Sounds like you're a great grandma too.

FJ, I think TB has a Greenspeed also - and is conflagrating (?) his experience into this discussion... I believe he's tracking operation of all of his equipment.
His milder climate seems to mean less sensible load, so he finds himself with more frequent dehumidification issues that his Greenspeed can't handle.

NOTE #1: 03/30/13 - 04/10/13: Had six family members visiting for Easter and four stayed on to help with garage sale and landscaping the following week. Extra daily baths, showers, dishwasher runs and hair dryer usage, cooking three meals a day, washer/dryer ran almost non-stop. They had all my doors and windows opened with A/C “off” for 12 hours a day while working between outdoors, the garage, the laundry, the kitchen, and cleaning out “junk” in closets. Outdoor temperature and humidity rose into the 80’s, Greenspeed “recovered” about 8 to 10 degrees each evening for sleep time.
NOTE #2: 06/10/13: My grandson moved in with me... double the hot showers, triple the dishwasher runs, quadruple the cooking and washer/dryer usage. Not sure how much, if any, the FSEC retrogrades offset the increased power consumption related to a second resident. On 08/25/13 my grandson moved out, but the puppy stayed!

Off top of my head:
Annual energy was $1800, $600 base $1200 HVAC. Now $1200, $600 base $600 HVAC?
Roughly 50% HVAC reduction, 30% overall?
Comfort/control/noise improvements too?

Pretty close.... By my figuring, annual averaged $1600 over the previous 2 years, $600 base & $1000 HVAC. Annual is now $1100 since the install, $600 base & $500 HVAC.

Yup!

Absolutely! Can barely tell it's running! While the humidity never goes as low as the 40% that was standard when my old 3.5 Ton Rheem was running, the 50-54% range I have now doesn't wreck havoc on my sinuses any more, so I'm much more comfortable! And the tweaks the contractor did to my ductwork improved air distribution and made the WHOLE HOUSE comfortable from front to back!

Update for November 2013 - One Full Year Since Install
Here's an update through my last FPL billing as of November 11, 2013. Fall has begun and the hot, humid Central Florida summer season is winding down, with "winter" coming soon. Still loving my Greenspeed! Annual savings of $520 this year alone, plus invaluable comfort improvements have made this investment well worth it! The difference in cost over and above a competing 15 SEER system from the "top dealer" in my county will be paid back by next November!

Hey Joy, been unseasonably cold for you?
Any updates/observations? Love an update.

December was unseasonably warm. Then came January and February with average temps around 20 degrees below what is "normal" for Central Florida. As a result, my monthly bills this winter were $15 - $20 higher than anticipated. Of course, the house stayed comfortable all winter since I didn't have to fiddle with the thermostat as I had in years past with the Rheem. All in all, I'm very happy with my decision to go with the Greenspeed!

Update on FSEC Study Participation
Guess what? Was just advised my home has been selected as one of 8 in the study to receive a $3000 washer and dryer set for the purpose of evaluating further energy savings! It's a Whirlpool Duet set that includes the new non-venting dryer with Heat Pump Technology. I'm so excited! I'll only have to contributed $300 toward the cost.
This couldn't come at a better time. My daughter moved back home last May, so my energy costs last year have increased over previous months. Still thrilled with the Greenspeed's performance and energy savings!

Florida Joy, I was in your state for the first time January of this year; staying in Orlando for a weekend. When I arrived Friday night the weather felt like Dallas/Fort Worth in summer; warm and sticky. A cold front came in later that night, with rain beating against the hotel window all night long. Next day was cool but pleasant, and on Sunday we made it out to the Kennedy Space Center.
My visit was too short but I really did enjoy your state!
