    None of our friends are union workers or BAKERS! OOH! BKERS! they will be hard to replace!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I hate bakers!
    Only about 30% of the workers who are now unemployed because of this are union members. It is always a shame when so many have to suffer because of the stupid actions of the relative few.

    Looks like we may have been misled about how many members of the Hostess workforce are union members. The article I based the 30% on only mentioned the Bakers union. It looks like more than one union is involved in Hostesses labor issues;
    Hostess has about 18,500 employees; roughly 7,000 are represented by the Teamsters, and about 5,300 are represented by the BCTGM.

    According to that article, the Teamsters still supported the strike.

    It has become impossible to have a conversation about unions without mentioning Walmart because Walmart has been such a primary target for unions to infect.

    Im not saying the teamsters didnt support the strike. But apparently some of them did show up for work. So much for solidarity. And I really dont care what walmart does. As a corporation it can make decisions as it sees fit.

    I'm thinking that union workers are not as loyal to unions as in the past. Why should they be?

    It will be interesting to see if other private companies with organized labor will be doing similar things in the near future. Unfortunately, it will take an act of Congress...literally...to get organized labor out of government.

    i was pointing out that if Hostess wishes to deliver cupcakes to Wal Mart they must use non union truck drivers!

    many of the warehouses or all of them have union docks and non union docks, the Wal Mart shipments come and go using the non union help and non union truck drivers.

    that is why Hostess has non union truck drivers such as my tennant Colin!
    he is not even in the union and now he will be out of work!

    Doesn't sound very American, does it? Sounds like we need someone to tell those responsible to "Tear Down This Wall!" Sort of ironic that an organization that refers to itself as a "union" mostly divides us.
