This is not a bike?
I think the chain is worth more than this micro-channel coil. They need to think twice about what they are doing, someone may think this unit is valuable. I am still trying to figure out what they are trying to accomplish?

A 1.5 ton copper and aluminum coil is worth, what, $25? Obviously the owner has had his CU stolen beforehand, and the meth heads don't know wtf a micro channel coil is. It isn't doing much good, but hey you can't blame them for trying. All they have to do is make the thief pick an easier target.

Hoping someone takes the challenge...
...wouldn't insurance get him a new one?Which makes more sense to you?
CONSERVATION - turning your thermostat back and being uncomfortable. Maybe saving 5-10%
ENERGY EFFICIENCY - leaving your thermostat where everyone is comfortable. Saving 30-70%
DO THE NUMBERS! Step on a HOMESCALE.
What is comfort? Well, it AIN'T just TEMPERATURE!
Energy Obese? An audit is the next step - go to BPI.org, or RESNET, and find an auditor near you.

I've got a project where they took 16 gauge welded steel, bolted to concrete slab, and covered the 3' long lineset, and did nothing for the AC."Better tell the sandman to stay away, because we're gonna be workin on this one all night."
"Dude, you need more than 2 wires to a condenser to run a 2 stage heatpump."
"Just get it done son."

They added more scrap value to the pile there with the chain...It looks heavy.

It would do just as good to mount a sign over the CU; "Stealing is not Nice!".
