Hi guys a quick question,
Here is my situation.....
I have a WM steam boiler in the basement and i have a "RITETEMP" digital thermostat to regulate the times and temp.
This is it....
http://www.homedepot.com/cmc_upload/...15000150_4.jpg
Now here is the stange thing....
When i goto sleep i set it to about 67 for overnight but then i set it to 70 for 6:00am when i get up to goto work.
For the past few days i getup in the morning and it's pretty chilly in the house.... i run over to the thermostat and look at the readings and it's 62 and "target temp" is 70 since it's past 6am.
The thermostat displays heat on, but until i actaully touch the screen with my finger it does not trigger the boiler to start it self. I know it sends the signal when i touch the thermostat because i can hear the little click as soon as i touch it. SO WEIRD! it's like a game!
Sometimes it does start correctly.....
The Thermostat does not use batteries, it's hardwired.
Now i am very paranoid because in a few weeks the weather will be below freezing here in the NorthEast and i cannot trust this thing if i want to leave of the weekend.
What is the issue? is it the thermostat or the boiler? I think it's the thermostat....
is RITETEMP crap? i thought it was a good brand.....
someone help.... any feedback....

If your controller is not controlling properly then the controller, (the thermostat) is defective.
You should not have to "tap the stat" to make the connection.
I presume that you have bypassed the stat and tested the appropriate pins on the subbase with a jumper wire. If you have, and the system works flawlessly, then you have just diagnosed the fault. (the stat)

Last year the boiler was working just as the controller was telling it to.

I'm not too sure that I understood your last post.
Did you say that you used a different stat last year and it worked great, but now this year it does not?
If so, then what else besides a new thermostat was changed?
Were any new controls put on? Like a new gas valve or some other type of relay(s) that could be drawing excessive voltage from the transformer?
