Trane Voyager Condenser Fan Problems

So i replaced a condenser fan motor capacitor and fan blade on a Voyager Rtu and when i fired it up the motor was spinning backwards, its a single phase motor, so i was alittle puzzled, i called Trane and they were alittle confused as well, suggested i swap the wires from the contactor and capacitor, motor was then spinning correctly but drawing about 1.5-2 amps higher than what it was rated for. So bottom line getting a new motor and capacitor from trane and trying it again. Just wondering if anyone has had anything similar to this?

Was it a 3 wire fan motor?

There is 2 compressors, and 1 condenser fan, the mod number was YCD120C4L0AB....and it was 3 wire motor Trane suggested swapping the black wire on the contactor with the purple wire off the cap and it seemed to correct the problem other than the high amp draw and the door was on the unit lol.

Double check the motor, cap and blade, just cause they're new, doesn't mean they're the correct ones, Trane makes mistakes too. Got a 208v compressor in a 460v box before. Didn't run very long.

Sounds like the motor is bad. I'm not sure if you replaced the motor, capacitor and blade or just the motor capacitor and blade. If it was a new motor, you got a bad one. I have purchased several motors from Trane that were bad out of the box or only lasted a day or two.

Exactly what I thought and why I asked, I myself have done it more than once(we have a ton of Trane Voyagers around here) and that is the proper fix.

Now on the high amp draw is the capacitor the same size? When you changed the fan blade did you put it in the same place?

Yeah fan blade is in same place capacitor is good, just swapped the motor and cap with another new one and its working great now... Weird **** but atleast I don't feel to bad now that some of you guys have experienced this.

What he said is true, had this happen to me before, got another new motor and magically it ran the right direction.
