    Little Data Center

These are some pictures of a little Data Center that we just did start-up on yesterday and today. It was a tight timeline. 13 weeks total construction time. It was a re-use of an existing building, they gutted it and when went at it fast and hard. Kudos to our pipefitters that worked (7) 10 hr days a week to meet the deadline. Don't be too harsh on the insulators, this is the last week onsite and the punch lists are in progress.

There are (15) Liebert IRC's feed by (2) Liebert XD Refrigerant Pump Systems/Chilled Water, (4) Liebert DS CRAC units, (1) 6-Module MultiStack Chiller, and a York air handler for the office spaces. Chilled Water piping is 8" black iron welded. Refer lines to IRC's is 2 1/8.

Thanks. There is only 900 lbs of refrigerant in the system. Close to being a big system, but not quite. I can't take credit for the pipe work. Our pipefitters really busted ass on this one and did it in a professional manner. Wicked proud of them. Us service guys are only responsible for the equipment.

Awesome job! Were you responsible for the startup of those sweet new Lieberts and the XD system, or did the local Liebert rep do it? Or are you the local Liebert rep?

Gotta say I am not a big fan of those Airstack chillers, lol

We requested and got a guy from the Liebert Factory Service Team to help with the startup of the XD system, since it is new. The local rep wasn't comfortable signing off on it. We are not a Liebert Rep, but I have been to a lot of their training. I started up the CRACs (only hard part is integrating with the BAS).

I am not a fan of the MultiStax either. This was a spec job. One of those where you don't deviate from the plans at all, just so the chain of finger pointing can continue upward if something doesn't work.

New construction, oh how I sometimes miss it. Great installation. Gotta love a service guy who appreciates a good install crew.

Beautiful job, I have a data center with about 900 tons of Liebert DX units that are all upflow, they are extremely loud.

Yes the Liebert DS CRAC units are loud. They will blow your hat off if your infront of them on startup. The new XD/DCP system is pure refrig pump. No compressor in the system, except at the chiller. Gotta say that I was skeptical when I first saw it at the training, but it seems to work. The receiver tank in each of the two DCP modules holds 160 lbs of R-134. We have the XD IRC's setup with a top/bottom configuration. I probably would have combined it with a Lee Temp to take advantage of the low ambient temps here, but I am not an engineer and no one asks me.

I passed along the kudos to the fitters.
