split chiller tubes
Can anyone help with this..
We have split cooler/evaporator tubes on on offshore carrier chiller and a load of water has gone through the system. The screw compressor has seized and will be replaced, the condenser will be water jetted clean with hot soapy water but since the water has entered the chilled water side our concern is it has gone through the AHU s control valves and now un sure what to do.
Anyone had to perform this type of job/maintenance before, love to hear your advice as what to do from step A-Z.

What's the purpose for cleaning the condenser? What's the model number of the unit?

I think that you may want to clarify just what you need advice on.
The way I read it is... You froze up the bundle and now have moisture in the system and would like advice on how to remove the water that has gotten into the refrigeration side. Its not the way it is worded but that is the natural conclusion to busted tubes.

I am going to get a slagging for this?
Add some drain points at the lowest parts with in the system.
Flush with very hot water "80C" "plenty", then blow through the system with hot air (compressed air is drier then "heated"), drive out the free water (which is easier when hot)
Because the system is hot and the majority of the free water has been removed, now but the system on a vacuum, remember to keep an eye the vac pump oil. (change regulatory). You can repeat the hot air purge, to reheat the system and distribute any moisture that may be remaining.
Vac again.
Purge with dry nitrogen (heated if possible), Vac again!, Break vac with nitrogen fit, new comp and drier, pressurize with nitrogen, leak check. Vac system. Aim for 400micron vac, if struggling, then heated nitrogen purge, re vac. repeat if required.
