Did Obama win or did the Republicans lose?
Obama was prime for the taking. So why couldn't we beat him? I know he got alot of votes from welfare moms etc. but I think there is much more to it.
Romney got beat up in the primaries where he had to cater to the far right of the party. Then when he tried to move toward the center to get the all important moderates after the primaries, he couldn't quite pull it off.
Look at how many people that the pubs have allienated. Women, even though many of them are pro life they still dont want a bunch of old men(congress)making the choice for them. Gays are also a lost cause. Most minorities including latin americans who are the fastest growing demographic want no part of the grand old party.
The pubs have too many people who wont vote for them right out of the gate. I think the party should focus more on fiscal matters and let the houses of worship worry about saving our souls. Most adults dont want to be preached to, except maybe on Sunday. So IMO if the pubs want to succeed they need a makeover. Its okay for the government to have a moral compass but it cant come accross as over bearing. Like that Murdock guy who says things like rape that results in pregnancy is a gift from God, or something like that.
I think the GOP blew it. Couple of thoughts:
*This is the first time I can remember since I started voting in 1972; that a bad economy elected the incumbent.
*Romney, while he probably would have been a better POTUS for the economy, just did not have public charisma... that ability to speak on TV and make folks feel good. Why the H*LL the primary system chose him is still beyond me... unless it was rigged.
*Lets not forget newt Gingrich would have literally SHREDDED BHO in the debates... I have NO doubt if Newt was the nominee he would have won.
*Paul Ryan, while I like his policies, is not really V-POTUS material, as Romney was not POTUS material either... same reason: They just do not have that TV charisma.
And here is the MAIN reason IMO: When the TeaParty was more or less running the GOP heading towards the 2010 election... the GOP was clearly the party of conservative values...
The 'old guard' leaders of the GOP were in charge for this election and wishy-washy flip-flopping was the order of the day... IMO small wonder the GOP lost.
BHO was VERY vulnerable IMO... so yes, the GOP had it to loose... and they did (loose it).

Agreed, Romney lost it. Obama didn't have near enough to vote for him for President in his pocket. He got a lot more to vote against Romney because folks believed his lies backed up by the press and the press did a great job of covering up all of Obama's wrongs and they are two many to count. Thank you, thank you very much
"I could have ended the war in a month. I could have made North Vietnam look like a mud puddle."
"I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution."
9 or 10 million fewer people voted for Obama. Yet, 2 million or 2.5 million fewer voted for Romney. McCain got more of the Mormon vote than Romney did. As bad as Obama has been, there should have been 3 or 4 million more voting for Romney instead of 2 or 3 million less. So the republicans lost the election. Karl Rove is a huge problem. He always wants a free-trading country club establishment republican like himself, and that is what he got in Romney. With Santorum, we could have proved once and for all what the significance of moral and social values are to the republican party. Now, the republican party is still a drifiting ship at sea with no power to her engines.
As a neutral on looker, this how I would answer the question.
Firstly all polecats, lie, stretch the truth, and soften the more radical views.
So many would look at those on either side who are not directly in the race but who are supporting a side and promoting what they see a being the truth of each party.
So if I look at the conservatives on this site ( and I have to presume that other US conservatives are similar), I have to say they show an unbelievable intolerance of non conservatives or those who do not seem to be fiscally successful. So if you guys where typical of what may have happened, then those who may require federal assistance or close to requiring it, would be very unlikely to vote for a true conservative candidate.
So in conclusion Mitt lost because, the Republicans had no clear direction.
The GOP fielded too many candidates in the primarys...... everyone knew... well those of us who have half a brain or better knew....from the beginning that it would be Romney getting the gop nod...... and so the republicans wasted a lot of time, effort and money whittling the field down to Romney.
And of course Romneys persona of the rich guy who has no compassion for the peasants of this nation didnt help him either.
While not as wealthy as Romney, Obama probably feels the same way about us poor old working stiffs as Romney does.... but he doesnt show it.
Part of being a politician is making people think you actually care about them when in reality you dont.....and Obama did a better job than Romney on that front.
I would also throw in the fact that Obama probably had boat loads of illegal voters voting for him.....but being as the numbers were actually down this year.... Id say that isnt the fact..... plus... it seems like the Republicans were the ones who kept getting their hands in the voter fraud cookie jar this time. That probably drove a lot more people to vote than would have otherwise... might have been less voter turnout if Romney and the pugs hadnt peed off the poor and a lot of others with this voter fraud thing.
4 more years of Obamas oppressive policies..... but of course being as we are all americans we will weather this storm as we have weathered all storms thru the past..... *****, whine and carry on......
6:27 am Sunday morning.....Im out of smokes.....sooooooooooo.... instead of sleeping in or hanging around the house Ive got to shower and get dressed....Im dressed now...but you know what I mean......and trudge down to the mini mart for some cigs..... If the sun is out when I get ready to go I might get my 1 plus gallon gas can and my 2 stroke oil and get some gas for my weedeater and leaf blower. Id go buy me a new leaf rake too but I think I might just wait till later this week to do that. Thinking about buying a tarp too....so I can collect my leafs on it instead of raking them into an old metal trash can I have and carrying them to the street and dumping them.
I also need to get hold of the city. They are removing a street that runs down the side of the yard and I normally put my leaves out on that street.... I wonder now if they are going to want me to put my leaves on the other street for collection.
I shouldnt have as many leaves now as I am doing a lot of mulching of leaves with my lawnmower but still..... there are some leaves that I will be putting out at the street...as well as my bush and tree trimmings.
Ill have to call them, the city, this week.
I could have gone and got my cigs in the time I just typed that above mess...... or showered and then I would be ready to leave now......
leafs.....lol Im not changing it though because it is correct....sorta

As long as that divide exists within the pub party they are in trouble. It will take an incredibly strong and popular pub to have any chance the way things are now.
Newt may have fared well in the debates but he had so much baggage, personal and political, I believe he would have been routed in the election. We needed someone fresh and strong not stale and re-cycled.

I have my own little world. But it's OK...they know me here.
Analysis of the voting has shown that hispanics voted 71% for Obama. By leaving our borders porous and pandering to this group, you buy an election. America has the highest paid voters in the world.
The GOP is done. There is no way they can sell responsibility and morality to a populace that has tasted the free society of do what you will, act however you want and the fools still working will pay for it all, even if it violates their religious and moral beliefs. This country has become a country of whores willing to prostitute their votes for whatever petty special interests they feel. You have women who admit they voted for Clinton strictly on his physical appearance and had fantasies of having sex with him. This time, many women voted strictly for abortion rights, even though Romney would not have had the power or ability to overturn Roe v. Wade. Same for the tree huggers voting for a single issue. BTW, where was all the panic about the ice cap melting, polar bears dying out and all that hysteria? Where was all the environmental hysteria? Not much but the environmentalist voted single issue. The LGBT crowd voted single issue, too. The GOP cannot counter these moves. There is no way to get these selfish, single minded people to see the big picture and vote for their country rather than themselves.
When the people turned against God again, he cast them out into the wilderness to purge a generation of people who would not remain loyal to him. When he allowed Israel to enter Canaan, they quickly turned against God adopting Baal and other pagan gods. God handed them over to the Babylonians again to purge a generation or two.
Gun control question for you: When the Israelites first entered Canaan, what do you think would have happened to them if they checked their spears and swords at the door? God is about to hand us over to our enemies and cast us into the wilderness for turning against Him. All you scoffers will see.
People on the Right are desperately scrambling for an answer to the abomination that has taken over this country. The people have ignore the Ten Commandments by stealing, killing, coveting, holding false witness against neighbors, dishonoring parents, making graven images and holding pagan gods over The One True God. The answer is right at our finger tips and the only possible answer: turn to God. HE alone has the power to change the world and what needs to be done here can only be done by Him. Rather than worrying about which failed poser to vote for, instead pray to God. It is all part of His plan so he may want us to wander in a wilderness of 40+ years and if so, it is His will. Still, you should pray to Him, honor Him and give thanks to Him trusting in His Son who died for our sins. Or, you can go on living a hedonistic life enjoying a few pleasures here and there but make no doubt about it---the Lords retribution is coming, and swiftly so.
Keep the fire inside the fireplace.
This type of rhetoric, talking down to, blaming, and preaching is exactly why the Repubs lose.
