What are the Federal Laws regarding being the last person to look at a piece of equipment while holding an EPA Universal license when the equipment was faulty and am I obligated to have the piece of equipment repaired or replaced?

The unit has to be over 50 tons and leak at least half the refrigerant out in a year for you to have to find and fix the leak. I think that's what the law states. In residential it's up to the owner to decide if they want to gas it up or find and fix the leak.

    kyarnall legal question

I found a 240V steam table that was wired wth 10AWG and spliced into 12AWG into a 20A breaker. The breaker was drawing 17.9 Amps and the box at the steamtable was crispy critters. I know that since I was the last person to look at the equipment, I am legally responsible so I called in a licensed electrician to effect repairs. What is the federal statute and where can I find it?

Moved this thread to Tech to tech forum.

The question that you're asking is a bit odd.

What does an EPA certification have to do with wiring a steam table?

Also, legal advice is not really given here.

Your EPA only has to do with handling refrigerant.
