And the winter work.....
And you can't get accused of not doing it ....
We've dehydrated some flooded systems that people laughed at ,,,,that are still running years later with excellent oil sample lab results....
It can be done ....and will
Here we have a thirty HR to make new again. It has a long bad history. Probably 5 or 6 years ago mikesacman and I went to get it chugging since it was coming on spring and down. Pulled barrel ends and it looked like coal. I dug, found tubes, and brushed them out. After an eddy current the barrels were plugged to the max. The endbells were cleaned and missing flow dividers were rebuilt with JB weld. (save it I caught enough flak over it, it was need it yesterday job and it worked). It ran has served them marginally well not maintained.
Two years ago another tube failed flooded B. They let it rip and now they want it fixed. Two con barrels, 4 core drier, exv, two 06Es, and lots of other crap. Even though they are sent quotes for new and had new vs. this...I actually think they want to fix it. Honestly I hope they fix it because I enjoy the challenge.

Sounds like you needed to vent . You'll be ok.
Yea it's a little ventage. Mostly customer curiosity. I do not work on our install side so I see no work or money if they get a new one. I am chomping at the bit for this job it is my favorite type of hvac work. I wish new torpedoes (con barrels) for the thing didn't have huge lead time. Just seems like were restoring a 94 Honda accord if you know what I mean.
Come on now. Water don't bother me. The spring loaded pipes of death you 2 destroyed come a longs reconnecting have me a little concerned but I'll let you pull those bolts. When it comes to rigging and moving all things heavy I yield to the shakers fearless genius.
Is this the factory paint job?
Haha that's a negative. It was classic seaspray green.
Hahaha okay. You got me on that one!
Good luck on the repair if you have not already completed.
Thank you. Our quote is still floating around. I figure after the first of year it will be a yes or no. Lead time on the barrels is probably a good while so I hope they get a move on. Nice spring job for us.
Thinking about it now we may have forgot blue paint in the quote They should restore them to their original seaspray green. It will look like the patchwork chiller probably. I'm sure the barrels will come black and green or gray comps. We like to paint but no aerosols allowed there
The proper green or gray would be nice.
At least they didn't paint it tan..
I would like to see it fixed vs a likely scroll replacement unit. ..cheapo
Those were good units when maintained.
You are right about that. I do not see them going that road though. They replace piston chillers with air cooled Trane screws or water cooled carriers. Both are machines have extremely respectable uptime. They almost bought a York chiller once but we advised against it. Nothing against York at all but if you have a slew of carrier HXs and Trane RTAC and they work great why stray off the path. I hope they don't pick up a aquasnap or multistack like machine yeuck!!
