Please help this new tech with a heater problem!!
I am a fairly new maintenance repair technician for an apartment complex in Beaumont TX. I am working on a Goodman electrical Hvac unit. When the resident has turned his heat on at night it wont shut off. He say's he like's the temp at 77*f. The mode is on heat and fan is on auto. He has had to turn the whole unit off on the breaker box. I have replaced the thermostat and heat sequencer from a working unit from another building, (Same model of course.) I tested the system once after the repair, and it kicked off for me as soon as the ambient temp reached 72* f, which is what I set thermostat on.reached the correct temperature. However he claims that at night when he sets the heat to 77* f it just keeps running. Please help!!!!!!

Could be the unit can't put out enough heat to raise the interior temp to 77. Is this a heat pump or just straight electric?

77 is hot!! It probably can't reach 77 quickly so he assumes it won't shut off.
Get a thermometer that records the highs and lows and put it somewhere in the apt overnight and see how hot it actually gets in there.

Just straight electric. He says he woke up to 90 in the middle of the night!

You might have to set it to 77 and just sit it out and see if it won't shut off. If it doesn't then troubleshoot it from there.

Its all good
Look at the wire diagram and see what is holding the heat mode on or you said you repaired it and it worked you cycled it so maybe this guy thinks your cute and is making things up who knows hard to see over de net.

Ok man Im gonna try to do that. The wiring diagrams are kinda hard for me to read cuz Im still a greenhorn.

Install a second T-stat connected to a 220 volt relay to shut off unit
