    I can't really tell from the photo, but if there is only 1" between the top of the metal sleeve and the outside of the flex, then it is severely restricted. As mentioned, an elbow should have been used.

    Flex manufacturers call for a bend radius to be equal to the diameter of flex being bent.

    Also some sealant would look great there.
