How is that possible? I don't know any customer that would put up with "I don't know what's wrong with it" for that long. At this point maybe you should go buy every single part inside that furnace and swap them out one by one, because you don't have the basic diagnostic tools required or the trouble shooting skills. Then again maybe you should go back to being an electrician, pulling wires doesn't require as much ability to think.

I have done a ton of electrical work for electrical contractors and on the railroad (finally preparing for my license) and please, don't send a guy with an outlook like this back to the sparky ranks. They have enough problems already.

When you have spent a few years doing the work, should you make it that far, you will look back on that statement and literally cringe with embarrassment. No kidding.

Unless it is truly the board, as it most certainly is sometimes, most flame rectification issues can be diagnosed and resolved in 15 minutes or less. Sometimes it is as simple as [NEED TO BE PRO TO SEE THIS]

    This still smells DIY.

I can't say that I have even had one from scratch, as in carving the pumpkin and all. Pumpkin is my favorite so maybe someday I will try, or make the wife lol.

You need to measure rectification current, which is easy unless the HSI doubles as the flame sensor, as it can on some models.

Your most likely path to the cause is the failure of the circuitry to see a consistent flame proving input.

No step by step instruction in the open.
Come to think of it this furnace is not grounded at all ,the bare wire coming into the furnace is cut ,im on it tomarrow i hope it work

although not as long as your other posts, much better.

Come to think of it this furnace is not grounded at all, the bare wire coming into the furnace is cut. I'm on it tomorrow.

when there is a red line under a word, it is an indication of a probable misspelling.

No customer should go without heat for 1 day at the most. You have been working on the same furnace for 2 weeks.. I just still cannot believe this

For most (for the sticklers, let me repeat, "MOST") furnaces, and all of the older furnaces, the presence of the EGC, properly attached to the cabinet bonding screw, is for safety only. In case of a short circuit to the cabinet, the low impedance path helps to quickly open the overcurrent device to de-energize the feed to the unit.

On newer furnaces, the board has control logic that ensures the EGC is connected by comparing the supply voltage to both the neutral and the EGC. If the EGC is not connected, the furnace may not decide to do much of anything.

As I suggested, that EGC is most likely NOT going to be the fix for this issue.

I am doubting that this is a "customer" in the normal sense. Certainly, not a typical person who is either a regular customer of the company and is willing to wait without heat, and not someone who called from a list of contractors in the phone book or equivalent.

No, this is someone who has no money, one who has some personal connection to this youngster.
