    How much does a busted chiller barrel cost?

    Found this during a pm.

    I took these pictures after turning bypass valve off. Flow switch was still closing with no flow through evap.

    Last one I did was around $40000

    That was for a barrel ,new 80hp bitzer screw and related components ,dehydration etc....

    Replaced a 99 RTAA 100 ton barrel in Aug. 40k$ job and done in a day. No rupture though the plastic baffles were warped due to hot water damage.

    how do you even freeze a DX chiller barrell?????????

    there is refrigerant in the tubes???????????????????

    sounds like somebody gettin a new chiller!!!!!

    They are not busted yet. I was just thinking that bypassing evap in winter could cause it to freeze if ambient gets cold enough. Then I wondered what a chiller barrel costs. I have never replaced/retubed one.

    I don't know if refrigerant or h20 is in the tubes. I would think h20 in tubes.

    oh I am sure you could freeze a dx chiller!
    but since it is a tube bundle full of refrigerant surrounded or placed in a barrell of water, it would be hard! I think?

    Leave it to me to handle the controls. I will turn every board in that thing into a smoldering blackened melted piece of useless plastic.

    I have a survival kit in my basement. It has water, food, and a few Carrier MMV incase I need to start a fire.
