With the sound sucking in,,,,, I pray and pray hard for all my friends down on the sand bar....

The Island Inn says the water rose 6" in 15 minutes. At this rate in 20 more the first floor will be flooded. Dark now, praying for everyone's safety.

Chris , we are still waiting the wind shift which will stack water in the east side of the Pamlico Southside of hatteras and ocracoke.

The Oregon Inlet bridge info was something the wife got off facebook from Oregon Inlet Idiots.

I really have a hard time believing the temp bridge at new inlet is fairing well. We went for a ride around 5pm and our northern sounds were dry. That water is somewhere

I live in Greenville, and we have been ok this time. However from what I have seen on TV and talking to some friends, the Outer Banks from around Hatteras North did not fair as well.I hope that it stays off the coast and does not make landfall any where, but I know that is unlikely.
Look to the past to learn;look forward to live.

That's by my house. That's the bridge from currituck to kitty hawk. It looked like that at lunch. That actually is the norm on anystorm we have with strong n winds.

Water is only 2 ft deep under normal tide.

I passed you then not that long ago, haha

Seen some pics from Frisco/Buxton where it was sucked up and the fear down there is the NW winds and all that water.

Rodanthe seems to be getting the worse right now, but there is a breach in between Frisco and Hatteras, don't believe it cut through though, yet...

Catch any Drum while you were down ? The week before they handed out a bunch of citations from Avalon pier to O/I.

I was on trout and good flounder last weekend.

All idea this storm will push some stripers down.

Nice fish. I couldn't get out the inlet I had 7 men aboard. To many bodies to cross the sandbar in the event of an emergency. Plus it was the beginnings of a bachelor party

Hope everyone stays safe over the next couple of days, I visit Ocean Isle beach every year for the last couple of years, so far I do not think that they received any damage there, but further north it seems to be a different story. and where I use to live and work in Pennsylvania, they are expecting severe flooding again with a possible mix of snow and rain.

Sandy is getting ready to give obx a good douche. Already taking water from ocean side and high tide is 2 hours away yet. Then the wind is gonna switch and all that water has no where to go. Looking at possibly the same or worse flooding as Irene. This ain't pretty. Gonna go for a ride here in a bit , I'll try and get some pics

9am Update from Dare County Emergency Management

( this is a basic list of things, remember we still are not out of danger from this storm and conditions can & will change)

2-4’ of water on Hwy 12 from Frisco south to Hatteras Village, road is impassable.

Soundside water coming in at Conners Supermarket in Hatteras Village

Ocean water filling up the marshes east side of the Fire Dept in Hatteras

People rescued from 1 house in Hatteras Village

2’ of water in areas of Avon, with soundside water coming back in
Hwy 12 South to Buxton is passable until right before entering Buxton

Water on the roadway in Salvo both North & South, soundside water coming in at about 3’

Mirlo Beach Area has 6’ with waves breaking over the road

5’ feet of water at the KOA Campground

Lots of water on the Beach Rd in Nags Head, areas in South Nags Head are closed, estimated 300 people staying in South Nags Head at this time

Soundwater is coming back in Kill Devil Hills

Numerous rescues in Kitty Hawk in the Lindbergh area, between the highways. Power being shut off to most of the area.

Water on Duck Road in Southern Shores. No Ocean overwash. Soundwater should be coming back in over the next few hours.

Soundwater coming back in slowly in Duck, rainwater on the road in a few areas. Dunes are taking a beating, and the possibility of loss of houses, no count on how many at this time.

The Bonner Bridge/Oregon Inlet has railing damage, NC DOT will be inspecting as soon as it is safe, but it appears this is the only damage at this time

The Temporary Bridge at Pea Island has no damage at this time, the roadways to the north & south have lost asphalt and has ocean overwash.

Rescues are still going on in the Kitty Hawk/Lindbergh Area in between the Highways. The water in the area is 5' or higher, with overwash slapping at many of the houses.
