changeing out 40 ton condensers

So i'm changeing out two 40 ton condenser and as always the customer did not want to pay to change the evap coils.
Old unit r-22, new condeser 410. I've done this before on 5 ton and smaller units useing rx-11 to flush and a good triple vac with no problems. But I can't get a comfortable amount of the old oil out even with the flush. Anyone done this before that could give me some advise . I've only got a week to do this and the amount of oil left in the lineset and coil does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling.

Change the lineset and concentrate on the coil. Oh ya tell the customer you will leave the line set if they sign this release. I'd get the release anyway since they won't change the evap to match the cond unit. Good luck.

I have never heard of anybody changing r22 to 410a not changing evaporator??


Our salesman would not have given that option.
Heck on 40 ton evep 22 to 22 we always change evap piping and TEV.

Usually piping is wrong.

What is your plan to maintain proper velocity?

According to Trane's install manual the lineset is sized right and the coil evap coil will handle the 410 pressures. I know your allowed 10% of the r-22 oil but still I can't seem to get it all out.
I was thinking of chargeing the system and letting it run awhile, see how it goes and then reclaim it all and charge it again.?
