ditto, did one today. flux, 15 percent worked perfect. spent more time on the pressure test and vacuum than I did on the repair.
Copper glue and duct tape
Don't use 15% on steel unless you are certain that it doesn't contain phosphorus, it will make the steel brittle and prone to cracking
Many times. Nothing to it.
Orange coated rod works well too.
Never used anything but 56% and paste flux. Just have to have a good plan because taking the joint back apart can sometimes prove to be a real pain. Sure does shine up nice when you're done though. My old boss had a certain dislike for stay brite which, despite not having used it, I adopted.
45% blue flux coated rods. Works on copper-steel, copper-brass, concrete-wood. Flows real well. Only use 8% on liquid and suction connections, TXVs and such.
Harris Safety-Silv 56 is what I use. Very pricey though. I hate welding steel to copper. I will convert to ASE if possible. Like on a sweat service valves for a semi-hermetic.
45%or 56% roll with white flux. Clean everything, solder...done. Never really liked or used the blue or orange coated stuff.
