How do you access the evap coil?
The before pictures show a heat only (prepped for a/c) 70's era install with several code violations:
The new install set on new ACX plywood:
I know my guy's set the outdoor a/c close to the wall. Closer than I would have. Already had the talk.

How do you access the evap coil?
We talked about it, one would have to pull fau. One of the reasons we install external TXV valves. The Pure Air pushed the evap coil up into the plenum above the ceiling. I don't anticipate anyone having to do anything with the evap coil being the air is being cleaned with a MERV 16 air filter.
Tape between filter and furnace and coil and furnace! We use foam tape, keep it in several widths and thicknesses.
What is the point of the trap?
You may consider have your guys insulate the external valve. I know its not near as humid over there but it might sweat.
Also do a little better on bulb insulation as it looks like it may also sweat a little.
looks pretty good.
could you not put the outdoor unit so close to the wall?
what if you had to take the side grate off to clean it or something....it would be PITA
yep not bad..... i agree condensing unit a foot to close to wall....
it was working.... played with it.... now its broke.... whats the going hourly rate for HVAC repair
Does the gas line get bonded?
Why is the cu bolted down? Hurricane thing?
International Residential Code section M1307.2. Outdoor installations require a stable and secure installation...
the last time i saw that much metal tape on equipment,i took all of it out of the installers truck and gave him a caulk gun with some high temp CLEAR silicone. drives me crazy seeing all that tape. it should be caulked together as it is put together.
That is bubble wrap over sheet metal if your talking next to the ceiling.
I agree silicone looks 300 times better, i hate foil tape
hes talking about the joints between filter base and furnace, and between furnace and coil housing. honestly im wondering about your bubble wrap now , no insulation inside plenum or what?
Life's tough, it's even tougher if your stupid
the gas flex looks good tho

If our guys set that unit that close to the wall they would be fired in a second. The lead installer shouldn't of let that happen. If he doesn't get fired I would definetly make him pump the unit down and reinstall it away from themwall so it can be serviced. Have him do it of course on his own time without pay....
Are you having massive coil problems with the 410a coils?
The company I worked for used to install the most 17-18 SEER 2 Speed HP's in south central Texas, but our failure rate is nearly 80%!
whats the point off all the foil tape.... it looks like hell.... a proper sheet metal joint requires zero foil tape..... i don't get it.....
