Closing off room

We have a spare bedroom that the wife uses as a "craft room", it may get used a few times a week. Because of that, we close off the register and keep the door closed when she isn't in there. In general, is this advisable or should we just treat this room like the rest in the house?

it actually increases the static pressure when you close off any registers, similiar to having a dirty filter, which makes the compressor work harder so in general it is not a good idea to close off or cover any registers.

I kinda thought so. I tried to tell my wife that this wasn't saving any on our power bill, but she thought otherwise.
