Sporlan TEV Info
I've got Defrost issues, Refrigeration issues, Store Manager issues....
I suspect improper installation, but I need to prove it. Getting all lost and buried on Sporlan's website. Does anyone have info on a Y-936-AA valve? Thanks....The views and opinions posted here are my own. They do not reflect the corporate policies of my employer and will most likely get me fired at some point.

Is that a de-superheating application?
used for liquid injection to control discharge temperature?
that's typically where I see the "Y" valves

Looks like your TEV is bypassing liquid into the equalizer line.
Is that a strainer or check valve in the equalizer line?

Your picture shows all kinds of problems, liquid bypassing the evaporator going into the suction line, And a check valve in the equalizer line. And this manager is giving YOU are hard time?
Sheesh, I'm sorry for you

Yeah. I'm unfamiliar with that Sporlan number. I think maybe its NOT Externally Equalized, but is designed for Gas Bypass. I think maybe someone THOUGHT it was for equalization. But I don't KNOW that. Apparently they've had problems with this case for years.

Welp, I guess you could look up the case model number and see if it mentions anything about a TEV with hot gas bypass.

I vaguely remember a Hussmann Y-valve like this from back around 1985. It was intended for KoolGas defrost systems. I think the side connection shown in the pics as an equalizer is intended to be routed back to the liquid line.
Andy Schoen may know about these...unless they were before his time.

Sporlan's valve ID document says any txv preceded with a "Y" is special order made for a specific manufacturer. Most likely have to call the equipment maker to get the valve specs.
