    iPad for Service Techs

    Hey guys,

I'm looking for some feedback on IPad's for the service tech. I'm currently in the field daily and am thinking about investing in an IPad for service use.

What are the advantages? And what (if any) are the disadvantages?

I have a 1st generation iPad that I have and use daily.

Just a few of the things I use mine for:
    Equipment iom manuals
    Parts manuals
    Equipment logs
Parts lists of things I have on the truck and in hiding spots
    Spreadsheets of chiller configs/setups

I have an iPad 3 for sales calls but I use my iPhone for service stuff bc I always have it on me. I suggest getting iPhones for techs if you already supply them with phones, data plans can get expensive though

I have the iPad 1 and keep all my mini-split and chiller manuals on it. Plus a lot of OEM and special .pdf stuff.

I have the truck inventory app. But have not used it yet. Winter thing...
This actually has become my go to computer for every day use.

    What about invoicing?

Anybody do invoicing via IPad? I understand that printing is the only plague of Apple products. My thought is to email a copy of the invoice and those who request a written copy, I can send it via postal mail.

the company i work for issues them. I mainly use it for dispatch and filled it up with manuals and other docs. works as a great GPS but for any real work ill pull out the laptop for proposals and things like that. our customers like it because they can sign right there and our software will email them the bill instantly.

I have the IPad and use "ServiceM8" App. it is BRILIANT!! you can sync your iphone, ipad and computer all together. Really sweet app for small business's.
for invoices I use "invoice ASAP" app very easy to use and email straight to the customer.

That looks like a very useful app. What are the charges/fees associated with it?
